THE MIND AND MENTAL ATTITUDE
# The number of patients suffering from heart attack, blood pressure, cancer and many psychosomatic diseases is increasing in India. Even though people are aware about the health problems, nutrition, good food, exercise and the latest health care systems + the government and insurance support, the health problems are swallowing the society.
# The main reason for the above problems is not the lack of awareness or education, but the mental tensions and worries. The public has a misunderstanding that the mental problem means ‘schizophrenia’. All the problems connected with mind lead to mental problems.
# The Indian approach to mental and physical health problems is given as aadhi and vyaadhi, in which the first and more important is aadhi connected with mental health and the second only is physical problem vyaadhi.
# Naro hithaahaara vihaara sevee sameekshyakaaree vishayeshu askthaa daathaa satyaparaa kshmaavaan aptopa sevee cha bhavatyaroga. The mental and physical conditions needed to be health is given here. Of which the mental attitude is given as :
# Lack of stabilized vision, over attachment, attraction towards sensual pleasures, miserliness, sticking to adharma and asathya, impatience, rejecting the advice of scholars, lack of philosophical approach, enmity, etc are also different types of mental disorders.
# the principles of New Age Therapy (NAT) is the same as given above where the positives and negatives faced by the mind will be incluencing the body and those affecting the body will influence the mind also. Thus treat the mind first for curing the body.
# Sareera manaso yoga parasparam anuvrajeth aadhaara adheya bhavena thapthaajyaa ghatayoriva = the mind and the body are complementary to each other. The mind is the supported and the body is the support. When the hot ghee poured into the cold vessel heat transfer from the ghee to vessel and versa versa, like that the positives and negatives of the mind and body will influence each other.
# In India, the focus was given more to mental change (internal change) than the physical change (external change). Even in purushaarthas, the physical worldly achievements are guided and controlled by the mental change.
# The internal changes are permanent and external changes are temporary. The former is deep and permanent and the latter is shallow and temporary.
# All the Indian literature were (are) focusing on the mental or psychological changes needed to achieve a useful + purposeful + fruitful + peaceful = meaningful life for us and for all those who connected with us.
# The mental changes are possible through listening, watching, discussing and thinking. In short through the good input from the sensory organs.
# Listening, analyzing and assimilating should be done as the audio input through the ears.
# Watching, analyzing and assimilating should be done as the video input through our eyes.
# Discussing, analyzing and assimilating should be done strong conviction and
# Thinking , analyzing and assimilating should be done as the final point of input to mind.
# Listen, watch , discuss and think the good and bad but take only the good.
# Keep the ears and eyes open to listen and watch both good and bad, but keep the mind open for taking only the good from that.
# Listen the advise, guidance, instructions, appreciations, evaluations and take the messages as given in Vedas
# Listen the experiences, events and take the messages as given in Ramayana & Mahabharata .
# Listen to the stories, explanations and narrations and take the messages as given in Puranaas.
# Watch the sufferings of the aged people in their home, old age homes and in the roads.
# Watch the hunger of the poor searching and craving for the food even from the dirtiest sources
# Watch the sufferings of people due to cancer and other painful diseases
# Watch the fate of the orphans thrown in the orphanages, and for begging on the road, craving for few drops of love and affections
# Compare their fate and pains with those of yours and understand how much luxurious is our life.
# Always look the suffering of the people who are comparatively at lower level, when we feel dejected.
# Always look up the people higher than us for progress/ development / for reaching that level. Keep their status as our aim.
# None is free from sufferings and none has lived a smooth happy life throughout their life, including Lord Rama, Kirshna, Jesus, Mohammed, Socrates………….
# Keeping all these messages, experiences and stories in mind, elevate / stabilize / energize the mind. And that mind will energize the body. Both together will work for achieving the useful + fruitful + purposeful + peaceful = meaning life for ourselves, our family, our dharma and our motherland.
# Inform all the above points to your family members, friends, children and colleagues. Let us give the above answer for the question “ how is the life ? “
